                                                             Earth Day

U.S Senator Gaylord Nelson founded Earth Day. Earth Day is still celebrated today, and it is a day to inspire awareness and appreciation for the Earth’s enviroment. The very first earth day was on April 22, 1970, and Denis Hayes was the principal organizer of the first Earth Day nationwide. On the first earth Day about 20 million Americans took part in beginning the, “Environmental Movement.” This new day also brought tranquility to groups that protested against oil spills, polluting factories and power plants, raw sewage, toxic dumps, pesticides, freeways, the loss of wilderness, and the extinction of wildlife. These groups realized that they shared common values. Earth Day is celebrated in almost every country every year.
