Govermnent

     The Government was in a tricky situation during the 70s. The Vietnam War left the nation divided. Former president Johnson didn't run for his second term due to the stress the war had caused. During his campaign, Nixon promised to have a "peace with honor" which to the United States sounded like the troops being brought back home. Nixon widened the war and was later involved in the Watergate Scandal which led to his resignation. Gerald Ford was succeeded Nixon, and he tried to make a peace with Russia. US troops pulled out in 1975, and the nation was badly divided that lasted for years after.
