     The movies made in this decade were legendary. Star Wars, the classic movie series that is still commercialized today, was released in the 70’s. Encounters of the Third Kind, the movie that started the alien movies and fantasies, came out in 1975 and was an instant hit for director Stephen Spielberg. Ridely Scott may have been inspired by Spielberg and began his own film series of Aliens titled Alien. Crime movies were also popular, and the extremely famous movie series The Godfather was first made in the 1970’s. The Seventies may be the start of the sports film genre as Rocky came out in 1976 and was a hit that lasted to the 21st century. Some movies made in this time period have a legacy that lasted to the time period today.
